take me to the river
watch me dance in the dark
hold my hands, wet my fingers
deepen my spark
let the water flow
where it has to flow
that’s when it nurtures
that’s when it nurtures
i don’t want to feel pain
when i built these walls
i could no longer see
evolvement is the practice
of being together apart
children of the light
let down your guard
take me to the river
watch me dance in the dark
hold my hands, wet my fingers
deepen my spark
let the water flow
where it has to flow
that’s when it nurtures
that’s when it nurtures
i don’t want to feel pain
i don’t want to feel pain
i don’t want to feel pain
i don’t want to feel the pain
i don’t want to feel the pain
i don’t want to feel pain
i don’t want to feel pain
i don’t want to feel pain
i don’t want to feel pain
pour the light in me

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
Another stellar exercise in genre-swapping from Joel Wästber: soul, hip-hop, pop, and singer-songwriting traditions all wrapped up in one. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 18, 2019
A hushed and low-lit EP from this Melbourne musician, where dreamlike melodies drift across a bed of tender guitar. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 19, 2023
