i want to be your secret
or at least it’s keeper
i want to be your pearl
or at least it’s shell
i want to be the army
or at least it’s trojan horse
i want to be the well
or at least be the source
i want to know my god
at least enough to fear her
if i can’t be the song
at least
have mercy
let me hear her
i want to be your muse
or at least the mistress
i want to be your bible
or at least it’s witness
i want to know my god
at least enough to fear her
if i can’t be the song
at least have mercy
let me hear her

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
Another stellar exercise in genre-swapping from Joel Wästber: soul, hip-hop, pop, and singer-songwriting traditions all wrapped up in one. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 18, 2019
A hushed and low-lit EP from this Melbourne musician, where dreamlike melodies drift across a bed of tender guitar. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 19, 2023
